A rheumatologist is a specialized medical doctor who diagnoses and treats rheumatic diseases, which primarily affect the joints, muscles, and bones, as well as autoimmune conditions where the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues. These conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis, among others.
